Mad River Steelhead Derby

It’s almost Winter Steelhead season on the North Coast! And with the winter run of fish to the Mad River Hatchery, comes the annual Nor-Cal Guides and Sportsmen Association’s Mad River Steelhead Derby. This event is held on the Mad River and is a hatchery fish only derby. The Derby starts on January 15 and runs until February 29. That’s almost two months to catch a fish. The three largest Steelhead in the adult and the youth division are eligible to win cash from Derby sponsors. Even if you don’t catch a big fish, you’ll be entered to win all kinds of raffle prizes just for signing up.
