The North Coast Growers’ Association is excited to announce the launch of Humboldt County’s first food hub! Harvest Hub supports reliable, stable markets for local food producers, helping to make the North Coast region’s food system stronger and more resilient. A new program of the NCGA, Harvest Hub is connecting local farmers with wholesale buyers like schools, Tribes, food pantries, and restaurants.
We welcome you to join the Arcata, Greater Eureka, McKinleyville, and Fortuna Chambers of Commerce to celebrate this new business at a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, November 9 from 12-1pm at 5720 West End Rd, Arcata. Locally sourced food and drinks will be available, as well as the opportunity to tour this new piece of critical food infrastructure.
Harvest Hub is the result of 3 years of community engagement, meetings and surveys of local food stakeholders, and several pilot projects. The result is an entity that is responsible for the ordering, aggregation, storage, and distribution of locally grown and raised food, which will be able to increase the availability of local food beyond farmers’ markets, decrease the travel time food takes from field to fork, and help to strengthen our local food system to be more resilient against supply chain disruptions and other emergency events.
